Day 34 - Tuesday Jan 31 at Sea

(670 miles E of Sidney, Australia)

temperature: 70F, 100% humidity, cloudy

distance since FLL: 12,545 miles

Happily, the fierce Tasman Sea has failed to live up to its reputation and remains relatively calm. This is the smoothest sailing we have had since the Caribbean Sea. Captain Dag said in his morning announcement that we would be about one hour early into Sidney tomorrow, picking the pilot up around 6:30 am and being docked around 7:30 am. It is another gray, cloudy morning and we missed seeing the sunrise again. Also, since we are heading straight west the sun is rising and setting either directly behind or in front.

On The Voyager Today on TV, Jamie announced that was the day for people to cash in their tokens. He asked people to bring them in and exchange them for a voucher even if they weren't cashing them in for Boutique merchandise because...GASP... Voyager is OUT of tokens! We also learned on TV that RSSC would be providing a complimentary shuttle from Darling Harbour over to Circular Quay. It has been a slow sea day. Debbie went to morning exercise classes but skipped the afternoon ones so she could try to sleep off a headache she tried to fight all morning. No chocolate croissants, so the morning did not start out well for Debbie. She ordered the swedish pancakes at Compass Rose and received a half-order. The waiter told Clay he wanted breakfast steak and 2 eggs which turned out to be what Clay was thinking of having. They had American Drive-In food at the pool grill at lunchtime, but we opted to eat lunch in the Compass Rose. Debbie had chicken scallopini and Clay had a BLT. The usual ice creams followed with a plus that they were serving peanut butter ice cream.

The dress code in the evening was formal and we ate a quick dinner in the Compass Rose, back in the room by 8pm. Clay had foie gras and chateaubriand and Debbie had the chicken off the simplicity menu. The most notable thing about the meal was that Debbie finally had an excellent dessert. It was moist chocolate cake with vanilla sauce. We watched a movie, The Interpreter, on DVD and called it an early evening so we could be up early from our entry into Syndney harbor.

No pictures today, sorry.
